What did you want to accomplish with that aspect of design?Ĭecot: We have the fiction that the players are wearing gravity boots. GamesBeat: You’re in zero-G, so when you shoot someone they start floating up. GamesBeat: Which map did we see just now? The one that’s circular with an underground section. But keeping things like suppressors and UAVs familiar - the tactical nuke is still called a nuke, even though it’s technically a de-atomizer strike, a big laser from the sky. A UAV is still a UAV.Ĭecot: On the energy weapons, you’ll see a set of attachments with unique names because they have different functions. GamesBeat: A lot of the terminology is still familiar. They do so much work to make sure these weapons are relatable, that they look like they’re real. You see real-world materials, rubbers and polymers and hard metals. Our artists spent a lot of time making sure they have good material separation.
They have some cool new additions with the ricochet shot and the regeneration, but they still feel like Call of Duty weapons. We wanted to keep weapons that look and feel like weapons that are used today.Īnd even our directed energy weapons - they have recoil. We have directed energy weapons, but we also still have ballistic weapons. We’re a bit conservative with where we put wall runs and boost-jumping opportunities because we’re trying to keep other players in front of you when you’re engaging. One of those is the maps and how we design our maps.
